Cadence Key Exhibitor at Edison Electric Institute National Workshop

Expense Management Leader To Showcase Comprehensive Solution Expenses Firm

September 20, 2004

Cincinnati, OH – September 20, 2004 – Deriving value for clients by outsourcing non-core competencies to American companies is the mantra for top Cadence executives exhibiting at the 2004 Edison Electric Institute National Accounts Workshop. Top business and energy executives will converge in Orlando, Florida, from September 26 through 29 to discuss ways to lower the impact to business, and thus consumers, resulting from volatile energy costs.

According to Cadence president and CEO Jeffrey Hart, many businesses that process bills don’t understand their true cost to process an invoice internally. For a multiple site business with multiple vendors, many services, many invoices, and many employees this cost quickly spirals out of control. And, Hart explained “as a reward for the privilege of attempting to pay and audit bills in house, businesses pay significantly more than they should and get almost no actionable business intelligence as a result. These expenses need to be managed, not simply paid.”

“Businesses are in business to sell their products and services, however they are forced to deal with a variety of non-core competencies that take focus away from their primary objectives,” Hart said. “If companies are attempting to navigate through the chaos of energy expense management in-house, I can simply say one thing – why? Many are overspending without even realizing it, and there are more effective ways to deploy their resources while implementing a comprehensive energy management program.”

The EEI workshop is designed to help influence public energy policy and assist businesses in plotting a stable course in the energy marketplace. Hart indicated that during the conference, Cadence will work with fellow business leaders in the areas of successful energy expense management programs, emerging technologies, capital expense management, procurement strategies, and successful budget forecasting.

Cadence executives will provide business leaders information on outsourcing programs that will pay and audit bills, alert and recoup anomalies and errors, procure energy at the best rates, plan and monitor capital expenses, coordinate site status openings and closings, and develop a effective 2005 budget. The EEI workshops also includes sessions on “The Top 10 Ways to Obliterate Your Energy Budget,” “Four Keys To Successful Energy Supply Cost Management,” and “Price Volatility and Reliability.”
