Cadence Network adds more green to Conservation
February 28, 2005
Cincinnati, OH - February 28, 2005 - Believe it or not, but today marks the first day of "Conserve Water & Detect a Leak Week," while April and May mark Earth Day and Arbor Day, respectively. While images of blue skies, green forest and clear sparkling water may come to mind, hard nose business executives and facility managers understand that conservation is a fiscally conservative effort - it can save millions of dollars, and is also a good PR move.
Research proves that customers, the public, shareholders, and their own employees regard businesses that reduce waste more favorably. Businesses that reduce waste motivate people and other businesses to do the same, according to Cadence Network president and CEO Jeffrey Hart. But, for those that are not necessarily in it purely for the goodwill or because it is "the right thing," Hart explains that successful businesses are doing it for the "green" - hard dollar savings.
According to most international environmental leaders, including Environmental Minister Sam Galbraith, "energy efficiency is the most cost effective way" of saving energy and dollars for business. He explains that many businesses find savings of upwards of 20 percent once an energy advisor has visited a company and flagged energy usage.
"Savings from your energy bills go straight to your bottom line," Galbraith said. "There is no business or environmental advantage in using more energy than is absolutely necessary."
Hart and his team echo the Environment Minister's statements, having saved tens of million of dollars for its clients over the past six years, and approximately $10 million since October, 2004 - a byproduct of which is huge savings of finite natural resources. Hart points to a specific recent incident where a water leak would have gone undetected had it not been for CadenceEnterprise™ software alerting users to the individual store site anomaly.
"With hundreds and even thousands of invoices coming in to major multiple site organizations, finding these anomalies without Cadence business intelligence is like looking for a needle in a haystack," Hart explained. "Not only do we routinely find excessive usage of water, but also gas, electricity and even telecommunications, and we take steps to correct the error and deliver the savings and credits to our clients."
Hart added that Cadence is also able to procure utilities at the best rates for its clients and develop strategies for their maintenance and capital improvement efforts, further saving hard dollars in what has been traditionally thought of as a fixed cost. Hart encourages all multiple site businesses without a proactive conservation or tracking program to contact an energy auditor, such as Cadence, to lay out a savings and ongoing performance management strategy
